Paso Robles Crawl Space Addition
A hole under a house is just that, unless you have vision.
Turning dead space into livable space.
BEFORE
AFTER
Turning a hole into a home.
This newly built home in Paso Robles left something to be desired, and when our client’s adult children started having families of their own, an addition was required. We excavated a dead space under the main level to make space for a master suite addition.
Even though this home, situated on a hill, had been recently built by the previous owner, it did not maximize the amount of space available. Our clients needed more space for their families to stay when they came to visit.
Any new addition or home remodeling project starts from the ground up, but on this project, we had the unique challenge of excavating under an existing structure.
Once this had been done, we had to build a new retaining wall which became the back wall of the bedroom addition.
Although the foundation is always an important milestone in any project, in this particular case, it was more than half the project’s duration before it was finished. After the excavation and foundation were completed, this project wrapped up quickly.
In the bathroom, this client chose a floating vanity which made sweeping a breeze. The light and bright tile she went with reflects the light and makes the space cheery and welcoming, even without a window.
To add as much light as possible to this basement addition, we added two large windows with extra deep sills. The client was quite pleased with these deep sills, as one of her favorite memories as a child was reading books in her grandmother’s window seat.
A home for the whole family.
What started as a hole under a home on a hill, ended up being the perfect place for extended family. This Paso Robles addition was a major success, and the client is very pleased with how her dream came to fruition.
